Why is it that in this day in age women have lowered their standards down so low that a text is now an acceptable way for a man to express his interest in us? The chime of our text notification (that we have downloaded just for him) makes our hearts pitter-patter. Should we not expect more from men?
After watching the Sound of Music I became enraged at both myself and other women in today's society for allowing this to go on. Courting is on the verge of being obsolete; who needs to date when we can "meet" at the bar and go out to a 3am dinner at the nearest Coney Island. Maybe...if we're lucky, we will get breakfast in our clothes from the night before; nothing like a little bacon & eggs to go with you're "walk of shame".
A Facebook status is more important than the condition and stability of the actual relationships we are in. Our ancestors would roll in their graves if they could see what we have limited ourselves to. Men used to sing about holding a womans hand, now they sing of "tapping that ass".
Not only have we lowered our expectations of men, but also ourselves. I stroll the isles of the local grocery store on a Sunday, and I can't tell if I am in public or at a pajama party.
Dates have turned into "hangouts", call into texts, letters into emails. We deny ourselves the respect and attention women have worked so hard to attain in the workplace yet chose to ignore in our personal lives.
I am not an innocent bystander in this revolutionary downgrade. It wasn't until after watching The Sound of Music, that it became apparent some serious changes need to occur. I know life is about moving forward, however in this situation I am actively taking a step towards the past, because in the world of relationships...the future is not looking hopeful.

i really enjoyed this and you are right on the money with it... i am guilty of some of this and i always think the young lady is guilty of allowing me to do some of this... i do believe in singing a song or doing other things that men did to woo women back then.... but for some strange reason you get a funny look cause they really aren't used to being pursued and appreciated for what they really are...
